Gentle Reader(s),
Just back from the nation's capital, where I had the privilege of attending the annual Hurston/Wright Legacy Awards, which are given by the African American Writing Community to... you guessed it - African American writers. Well, one of our author's - Pulitzer Prize Winner - Edward P. Jones won for Fiction this year for his collection of short stories All Aunt Hagar's Children, but he didn't attend, so yours truly had to go up to the podium to accept on his behalf, and I have to say - I was cute - new suit, one of my favorite ties, but you know who wasn't cute? The photographer! Not that I have anything against the dashiki per se, but when you're wearing one with a batik print that it looks like you did it in your garage, and it has matching pants, which you have jeans under, and (you could pay more, but why?) Payless sneakers on, it makes me say: I disagree with your outfit.
